JOB's children celebrating birthdays

can anyone give me their view on why the bible says that after job's children celebrated 'their day' he went out and made sacrafices to god in case they had sinned and cursed god in their hearts ?.

the first part is a great talking part especially regarding job being a rightous man but the latter tends to counter act it some how by impling that job thoughts were that birthdays were wrong, in gods eyes.

especially as he did this after every birthday, so i can't really debate that it was one off event that might have encured some wrong doing at one particular party........if you understand what i mean.. thanks for any iput.

low self esteem issues....need some experiences.......please

i wondered if anyone would give me their stories of how the wtbts stole their selfesteem....doesn't have to be long.. need to show someone that this is indeed what happens to some..... as a good friend of mine said .

'if i'm no good for god, i'm no good for anyone' .

Thank you all so much for your replies My friend although knowing that it is all now rubbish! has had problems with her fiance as he has had a 'normal' life and she lost her mum at an early age (around seven) and then was introduced to the witnesses by a relative.

needless to say she has had feeling of 'not being good enough' for a very long time and it has spilled over a little in her relationship... he, on the other hand, finds it difficult to understand why she has such hang ups about ex- girl friends etc

I think if he realised that being once a JW promotes a feeling of 'not quite reaching the mark' it would help him to understand her more and thus give their relationship the insite it needs to grow.

being part of a cult is IMHO is both mind and soul destroying and I wish them all the happiness of a normal and loving relationship.....

so any advice and/or experiences would be invaluable

new OM book and what do say to those you love?

this has been an interesting thread for me as ...i know that this is so going to happen !.

i have been inactive for a while now about 7 years although members of my family are still in the so-called-'truth'.... now this book is released i know that i am going to be a target...........so....how do i reason with those of my family who are still hoodwincked by all the hypocrasy?.

i can't just come out and say 'hey' you idiots' look it all up on your pc because then they will just clam up and be like .........yikes!

even if it is just sowing a seed of doubt......... I'd like to show a loving attitude so that the contrast will be noticeable.......any ideas?????????

I know this may sound a bit thick ...but......can you actually buy a bible translation like the one you have scaned? i.e with the hebrew/greek and english translation underneath for each word? and if so where from?

You know you're NOT a JW anymore when...(add some)

you don't automatically wake up with a headache on sunday morning.... you no longer go around (while in field service) mentally deciding what home you'll "have" after armaggedon.... every item of clothing you buy as a woman is not first assessed for its modesty value.... you no longer worry about the 144,000 watching you have sex...:).

when on holiday you don't have to find the nearest kingdom hall asap (remember brother and sisters you are not on holiday from jehovah!!!).

being able to laugh about having a numb ass at the assemblies from sitting and the hilarity in having to tell people that you found the meeting "uplifting" when really you were fighting sleep the whole time.... you no longer have to avoid entire sections of music stores in order to make sure you don't pick up and "demonistic" vibes from backmasked cd's.

you can say with confiction that god loves you as an individual person because his love is given freely and you dont have to earn it......................ooohhhh what a lovely warm feeling that is!

...and you can pass on that unconditional love to your children/family/friends..you can love them for just being themselves

new thought on disfellowshiping?

hey... i think i may be addicted to this site!.

anyways, to the point in question......i read somewhere on here that a new thought is coming out soon to the affect of disfellowshipping those who no longer attend meeting ..that the new anouncement would be ....so and so is no longer one of jehovahs witnesses.but then that person would be classed as a disfellowshiped one......the short of it .shunned.

so what i am asking is this...... in a loving way what scriptures would you use in showing that shunning is unscriptual and how jesus showed us to treat one another even those in the faith.....the aim of this is to be the christian here...in order to show those we love that are still blinded how the society is not only unscriptual but also unkind/unloving in its dealings with others.. instead of getting angry...i want to use this oportunity to help those i love to see the unkind/unloving and ultimately unchrist like spirit of the organization.. thanks in advance.

this is good advice and what I have been doing for a long time now.......but it is very tireing to live a secret life and if they announce that so and so is no longer attending meetings/out in fs...etc...and so they are no longer a jehovahs witnesses with all the implications that this would bring ie...shunning.....then I want my other half to see that this is not me blatently shouting........

GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!!

but their unloving and unscriptual thoughts as a man made org...this may be the first step to thinking independantly and would gain me my parteners support where other family members are concerned...personally it would be a relief to cut all ties...but I don't want to make things difficult for my other half....so I keep a low profile.....if my hand is forced though .......I am prepared to come out guns o firing.......scriptually speaking!
